Ishan Uday is a particular scholarship scheme introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the scholars of North Eastern Region (NER) to advertise higher training and for encouraging youngsters belonging to economically weaker section of the NE area.

Objective of Ishan Uday Scholarship

The targets of the Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme 2022 for North Eastern Region are:

1) To provide equal opportunities for higher research in NE Region.
2) To build up the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in NE Region.
3) To center of attention more on skilled training in NE Region.
4) Optimum usage of NER Budgetary Allocation.

It is envisaged to provide 10000 (10,000) contemporary scholarships every year starting from the educational year 2014-15 for general level classes, technical and skilled classes, including clinical and para-medical classes.

Eligibility Criteria of Ishan Uday Scholarship

Type of Educational Institutes: Students with abode of NER who have passed Class XII or equivalent exam from a school located within NER through any recognized Board of Education, including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), National institute of open Schooling (NIOS) within NER only, and have secured admission in general level direction, technical and skilled classes including clinical and paramedical classes (Integrated classes integrated) in Universities/Colleges/Institutions recognized as under

A) Universities/Institutions/Colleges integrated under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act.
B) Deemed to be Universities integrated under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and eligible to obtain grants-in-aid from UGC.
C) Universities/Institutions/Colleges funded by Central / State Government.
D) Institutes of National Importance.
E) Institutions recognized by other Statutory councils within as well as outdoor

Class: Only first year Under-graduate scholars are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Course: For built-in level classes the scholarship will be tenable for the complete length of the direction. For twin level classes the scholarship shall be tenable for the first level only. The university shall explain it whilst recommending a candidate for scholarship.

Family Income: For availing scholarship under this scheme, the income of the oldsters of the scholar should not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.

Reservation: Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme. The reservation shall be followed as per Government of India norms.

Exclusions: The following shall not be eligible under this scheme-

1) Students pursuing classes/methods through Open Universities.
2) Students already availing scholarship for pursuing the Undergraduate programme under any other scheme(s).
3) Students gaining admission through ‘management quota’.
4) Students pursuing classes, such as Diploma Courses, not main to award of a Degree.
5) Students whose oldsters’ income exceeds Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.

Ishan Uday Scholarship Amount

An quantity of Rs.5400/- p.m. for General Degree classes and Rs. 7800/- p.m. for Technical & Professional classes (including Medical & Para clinical classes) will be given through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary scholar.

Selection Process of Ishan Uday Scholarship


The selection process of Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme is primarily based on following components –

# 10,000 (10000) contemporary scholarships will be awarded every year.
# Distribution of slots among the states of NER will be done on the foundation of inhabitants census(last).
# If slots in a explicit state stay vacant due to non-availability of eligible candidates, the unfilled slots will be allotted equitably among other states.
# Reservation for Persons with Disability (PwD) will be made as per Government of India norms.
